If you would rather not drive yourself, then enjoy being chauffeur driven to Poas Volcano National Park, an experience not to be missed with a chance to view one of the widest active craters of any volcano in the world. On your tour our friendly bilingual local guide will tell you some of the fascinating history of the local area, show you the best views towards the Central Valley and also point out some the spectacular flora and fauna and birdlife on the various trails around the park – an enriching experience enhanced by the knowledge of our local guides. Poas Volcano Lodge'’s proximity to two national parks, make it an ideal destination for birding enthusiasts, you will have an opportunity to spot the exciting bird species that inhabit the riverbank and the open forest areas. Enjoy the sight of wild pheasants, sparrows, hummingbirds, euphonies, tangaras, perhaps even the legendary resplendent Quetzal.

Cloud Forest Trails on the Dairy Farm

The Cloud Forest Trails on the Dairy Farm are for the guests to explore the beauty of the land surrounding the Lodge. A guided tour of the dairy farm, just minutes from the Lodge, can be arranged.

Sarchí

Sarchí  is Costa Rica’s most famous craft centre. The town, a 45 minute drive away, offers more than 200 stores and small family-operated woodworking factories producing wooden bowls and other tableware, fold-up rocking chairs of wood and leather, and a wide variety of kitschy items. The most popular items on sale are "carretas", elaborately painted oxcarts that traditionally carried coffee from the highlands down to the port on the Pacific coast.
