CONSEQUENCES FROM THE EARTHQUAKE ON 8TH JANUARY 2009.
Poas Volcano Lodge was severely damaged on 8th January,2009. But by great good fortune, the damage was just material. The time of the quake was also fortunate as there were no guests in the Lodge. After much deliberation and professional advice, we are going ahead with the reconstruction of the principal house, expecting to open the Lodge with all its services in July 2010 as a hotel this year. We presently have 6 bedrooms, a dining room offering a hearty breakfast, and soon will have the games room in the main house restored, with bar offering drinks and snacks, fireplace, internet connection , books and boardgames.
We are conscious that the area is still recovering, but its beauty is undiminished, there are local services such as Caciquita Restaurant, Restaurant Colbert, the Esquina del Sabor Store which are open. The must see destination, La Paz Waterfall Gardens is open from 8 am to 5 pm, though the road to the El Angel Waterfall is best avoided for the time being. Vara Blanca is a village which is determined to restore itself, and we are part of that process, and we hope our friends and clients would wish to be part of that vision.
The area of Poasito, has shops and restaurants which are open for business. Poas Volcano National Park is open from 8 am to 3 pm. The Canopy Colinas del Poas is open from 8am to 5pm.
For the time being we suggest our guests take dinner in any of various restaurants nearby, though we strongly recommend restaurant Colbert just three minutes away, with its gourmet French cuisine. Later in the year, the reconstructed Caciquita Restaurant will also be available and that is just 4 minutes away. There are also many sodas, cafes and shops offering cheap fare for lunch, and La Paz Waterfall Gardens has restaurants.
SERVICES AND INSTALLATIONS
Poas Volcano Lodge has three junior suite rooms in good and comfortable condition, with one double, one single bed and one rollway bed, for four people, also three standard rooms with one double bed. We offer tours, internet, transfers, bar and laundry service, and the use of our 300 acre dairy farm, for recreation. There are walks passing through areas of sub-tropical rainforest.

Junior Suites US$110 plus US$25per extra person, children $10 -$20 plus tax.
Standard room double US$ 95 plus tax.
From July, Master Suites US$250 plus US$50 extra person, children $30 - $20 plus tax.
LA PAZ WATERFALL GARDENS. You can buy your entry from us at a discount from what you would pay at the gardens. We can add that to your bill and pay by credit card.
