Poas Volcano Lodge
Poas Volcano Lodge is a stunning and unique mountain lodge nestled into rolling pastures, with breathtaking views of Poas Volcano and the northern Caribbean Plains. The twelve rooms, some with balconies to enjoy the majestic views and others with their own private garden backing onto the cloud forest, are divided between the main Lodge and the outside Garden Rooms.
The Lodge is located on a working dairy farm, on the edge of Poas Volcano National Park, with easy access to nearby rural villages and local attractions. It is only 45 minutes away from San José (Juan Santamaria) International Airport making Poas Volcano Lodge an ideal choice of stay for those just arriving or about to depart Costa Rica on holiday, or as a destination for a group event or a Cloud Forest Wedding. We are within a short drive to Poas Volcano National Park, the Waterfall Gardens, Doka Coffee Estate and many local agro-tourism attractions. At Poas Volcano Lodge our ambition is to offer you the most authentic experience of a mountain Lodge in the Costa Rican highlands. You are welcome to enjoy the nature trails we have created through the farm, where we have areas of virgin cloud forest, and where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse the Resplendent Quetzal.
At the Lodge you will be warmly welcomed and made to feel very much at home. We encourage you to enjoy a relaxing time sitting by the fire in our Library or Sitting room, a game of pool or chess in the Games room, or a film in our Cine room. Whether you are travelling with family or friends or organising an executive meeting, there is something here for everyone to enjoy.
I used the Poas Lodge Volcano for several intimate retreats with friends and have been more than satisfied with the atmosphere, rooms, dining room and outdoor space this gem of a hotel. Design and built on an active farm, the house is spectacular, with the use of stone, and amazing wooden bar, wooden floors and lots of windows to see nature. The rooms and bathrooms are well equipped and classy. Breakfast and meals are well catered for with good and fresh food. There are many seats and meeting spaces scattered around the lodge including a game / recreation room. The trails around the "jungle like environment" that surround the property are beautiful.
Charming hotel in a very beautiful mountainous area of Costa Rica. The guy that attended us on our arrival was very kind, offered to dry our clothes at no cost, which in. Full rainy season was a detail. They offer tea and some pastas and strawberries from the area in the afternoon, which is a good ammenity. They have a play area for children, and there is an area to relax reading a book. We stayed for dinner the night we were there and the food was excellent, and the service too. The breakfast buffet is very good quality, the best we have found in Costa Rica.
I recently returned from a trip to Costa Rica, from Ushuaia, Argentina with some friends from Guatemala and visited the Lodge. From the reception, through the staff of the restaurant, as management have been very attentive and people more than pleasant in dealing with people. If we talk about the place, it is a lovely forest, ideal for relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. In our case we also made use of the pool table, along with some local beers in a warm atmosphere in a part of the lodge.
The visit was carried out as a family by two adults and a child of three years. We had been there for ten years and we feared to suffer a disappointment, but it was not so the hotel continues to be excellent, if the extensions have had repercussions I can say that they have all been positive. Although in the simple rooms there is no space for an extra bed we have not had problems with the space, the beds are big enough for a couple and a small child, the bedding of excellent quality and in neutral and elegant tones. The rooms are tastefully decorated and in the style of an elegant mountain chalet. The common areas such as the reading and games room are spacious and equally decorated in a classic and elegant way.
