Poás Volcano National Park - Guided Tour

La Paz Waterfall Gardens

We can guide you to Doka Coffee Estate, ‘Tres Generaciones’, which produces one of Costa Rica's highest quality coffees. The Estate is located on the slopes of the Poás Volcano above Alajuela, whose rich soil and the ideal altitude and climate have made the Santa Eduviges farm famous for its excellent coffee. On your way there, your guide may suggest a stop on route to give you a chance to browse the local arts and crafts and the opportunity to meet some of the community involved in these cottage industries.

Lago Hule (Hule Lagoon)

Lago Hule is perhaps one of the most beautiful in the country both for its scenic beauty and for the abundance and biological diversity present in the forest that surrounds it. Anyone who arrives for the first time at the viewpoint looking into vast lake, once a volcanic crater, will be in awe of its majestic and untouched beauty. It constitutes a protected area called Bosque Alegre “ National Wildlife Refuge”. The guided walk lasts approximately 2 hours or more if you are visiting the three lagoons, Hule Lagoon , Bosque Alegre and Congo. The main attraction would of course be the impressive Laguna Hule spanning 1,150 metres across.

Mi Cafecito Coffee Tour

An authentic cultural experience, Mi Cafecito Coffee Estate and tour will give you an insight into the life of the Costa Rican coffee producer. Walking with a guide through the plantation, you will see and learn how the coffee farm is organised in such a way that it encourages and promotes harmony between nature and agriculture. On your return to the processing plant and roasting barn, you will learn about the process from seed to cup, where at the end you will be invited to a coffee tasting by the producer. During the tour you’ll also be invited on an ecological walk through the surrounding rainforest on the property, and learn a little about the environment. This hike is a little under a mile (1.2 km), and has a path surrounded by many different species of trees, flora and fauna as well as local wildlife and birds. From here you will enjoy the views towards the swiftly moving waters of the Sarapiquí River just below the property.

Sarapiquí Tours

We can organize your tour to the Sarapiquí Tropical Rain Forest, a spectacular and scenic drive from the cloud forest highlands of Vara Blanca down to the rainforest lowlands of the Northern Caribbean plains. You will enjoy several protected and important biological parks and research stations, namely Braulio Carrillo National Park and La Selva Biological Station. It is an opportunity to see and experience the mighty Sarapiquí River, which can be accessed from Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, the main river port. Once a bustling hub that exported goods down the Sarapiquí and San Juan Rivers (Río San Juan), it flows east to the Caribbean coast, eventually finishing at Puerto Limón.

Sarapiqui Rafting & Horseback Riding

White water rafting on the Sarapiquí River, grade 3 or 4, followed by a horseback riding tour around the 2000 acre working ranch of Pozo Azul. Typical ‘campesino’ lunch afterwards is optional at the Pozo Azul restaurant on their river terrace, overlooking the Sarapiquí.
